Election of Student Members for Appointment to the PolyU Council
In accordance with Section 10(1)(f) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University Ordinance (Cap. 1075), the composition of the University Council includes 2 members from the full-time students appointed by the Council :
i. One student is to be elected by and from the full-time undergraduate and sub-degree students (Category A); and
ii. Another student is to be elected by and from the full-time postgraduate students (Category B).
When a vacancy of elected student members arises, an election shall be conducted among the full-time students of the respective Category for appointment to Council provided that they remain eligible members of their respective Category.
Election in Progress
For the conduct of this Election, “full-time” students refer to students enrolled on full-time and mixed-mode full-time programmes, based on the central student records kept by the Academic Registry and Graduate School as of noon on 1 September 2026. Those who cease to be registered full-time students of the University in 2026/27 subsequent to the aforementioned date due either to graduation or other reasons should not participate in this Election.

Nomination period: 9 – 22 September 2026

Nomination forms should be returned via email to council.elect@polyu.edu.hk.
Announcement of Nomination: 23 September 2026
- Nominations received will be announced through email from the Election Officer on 23 September 2026.
Period for a possible withdrawal of nomination(s): 24 – 30 September 2026
- Nominee(s) may withdraw his/her consent to nomination by emailing the Election Officer at council.elect@polyu.edu.hk before Hong Kong Time 23:59 on 30 September 2026
Confirmation of the final list of nomination(s): 2 October 2026
- Confirmation of the final list of nomination(s) will be announced on 2 October 2026
Polling Period (7-day online via E-Ballot): 15 – 21 October 2026
- Each full-time postgraduate students (eligible elector) will be invited to access the electronic polling platform via connect email.
- Voting after the close of the polling period will not be accepted.
- Each eligible elector can only submit one ballot.
Announcement of results: 22 October 2026
- Election results will be announced on 22 October 2026 via email.
Period for lodging complaints: 23 – 24 October 2026
- Any complaint arising from the conduct of the election shall be lodged with the Election Officer during 23-24 October 2026 by email.
Announcement of final election results: 26 October 2026
- Confirmation of final election results will be announced on 26 October 2026 subject to no complaints being received.
